Why I Switched from Trello to Notion for My Side Hustle

Trello was fine until my side hustle grew. Here’s what Notion offers that Trello doesn’t.

For two years, Trello was my go-to. I had boards for blog posts, client projects, and personal goals. But when I started taking on more clients, the limitations became obvious: no real database, no relation between boards, and no way to see everything in one view. I spent more time clicking between boards than actually doing work.

Notion solved that by letting me link everything. Now my client database is connected to project tasks, which are connected to invoices. One page shows the full picture. I also love the flexibility of views — same data as a table, a calendar, or a gallery. Trello’s power-ups felt like patches; Notion’s structure feels intentional.

There’s a learning curve, I won’t lie. But after a weekend of setting up a simple workspace, I felt relief. If you’re outgrowing your current tool, give Notion a weekend test. Start small: just migrate one board and see how it feels.
